Today I am sharing my Dreamy Peplum Round Neck Blouse Sewing Pattern – Free PDF Pattern & Tutorial, a feminine little blouse that you can recreate in all sorts of beautiful fabrics, colours and prints.
This blouse has a simple round neckline, relaxed sleeves and a gathered waist that creates the prettiest little peplum at the bottom. I especially love how such a simple shape can be completely transformed by the fabric you choose. Make it in something soft and floral for an everyday blouse, choose gingham for a sweet cottage-inspired look, or go wonderfully sparkly with sequins for parties and evenings out.
Once you have made one, you may find yourself wanting to sew a few more in completely different fabrics!

Fabric Texture Suggestions
Choosing the fabric is one of the most enjoyable parts of making this blouse because the texture can completely change its personality.
For an easy everyday version, try a lightweight cotton. Cotton is comfortable to wear, comes in an endless selection of prints and colours, and is generally lovely to work with at the sewing machine.
Cotton lawn would create a lighter and softer version, while eyelet fabric could give the blouse a beautiful textured finish without needing lots of extra embellishments.
For something romantic, consider embroidered cotton, embroidered mesh or a delicate fabric scattered with little three-dimensional flowers. These textures work especially well with the simple shape of the blouse because the fabric itself becomes part of the design.
Chiffon and other lightweight sheer fabrics could create a softer, floatier version. Depending on how sheer your fabric is, you may want to add a lining or wear a simple camisole underneath.
Satin would give the blouse a completely different appearance. The gentle shine could make even a solid-coloured version feel dressy and special.
And then there are sequins! A beautiful sequin fabric turns this simple peplum blouse into a sparkling statement piece. Sequins are especially lovely for a blouse you plan to wear to parties, dinners, celebrations or anywhere you want a little extra sparkle.
Fabric Pattern/Colour Suggestions
There are so many pretty possibilities for this pattern!
Gingham would be one of my first choices for a casual version. Try classic blue and white, blush pink and white, sage green, lavender or even a tiny yellow gingham.
Small floral prints would also look beautiful. Think scattered wildflowers, tiny rosebuds, little daisies or delicate vintage-inspired flowers.
For something playful, try polka dots, tiny bows or stripes. You could even make a patchwork-inspired version using coordinating fabrics if you want something especially colourful and unique.
If you prefer solid colours, soft shades such as blush pink, powder blue, lavender, butter yellow, mint green, sage and cream would give the blouse a dreamy, feminine appearance.
For something bolder, try hot pink, raspberry, emerald green, royal blue or a rich jewel tone.
Metallic and sparkling colours can be especially beautiful for an evening version. Rose-pink sequins, gold, silver or even a deep sparkling blue could turn the same pattern into a completely different blouse.
This is also a fun pattern for using fabric that you might normally think is a little too special or dramatic. Because the silhouette itself is quite simple, an unusual fabric can really shine.
What This Can Be Worn With
The Dreamy Peplum Round Neck Blouse is easy to style because the gathered peplum already gives the outfit a pretty silhouette.
One of the simplest ways to wear it is with high-waisted jeans. A pair of tapered blue jeans with a feminine peplum blouse creates a lovely balance between casual and dressy.
You could also pair it with high-waisted trousers for a slightly more polished outfit. Add ballet flats, loafers, sandals or a pretty pair of heels depending on where you are going.
For warmer days, try wearing your blouse with denim shorts or high-waisted cotton shorts. A gingham or floral version would be especially sweet for a picnic, market, casual lunch or relaxed day out.
You could also wear it with a simple skirt. Because the blouse already has volume around the peplum, I would especially like it with a more streamlined skirt shape.
And don’t save the pattern only for daytime clothes! A sequin, satin or sparkly version can easily become a party blouse. Pair it with dark trousers or a simple skirt, add your favourite jewellery and you have a handmade evening outfit.

The fun doesn’t have to stop after your first one! Once you have tried the pattern, use it again to experiment with a completely different fabric.
Your first blouse might be floral cotton, your second could be gingham and your third could be covered in sparkly sequins. Using the same basic pattern in different fabrics is one of my favourite ways to create completely different looks without having to start with a brand-new design every time.
